Selecting a Home Unit

To which School should I apply? The MS HCI degree is offered collaboratively by the School of Industrial Design, School of Interactive Computing, The School of Literature, Media and Communication, and the School of Psychology. You should apply to one of these four schools, depending on your undergraduate background and professional experience.

  1. With an undergraduate degree in industrial design and similar disciplines, you will want to apply via the School of Industrial Design. Your degree will be the MS in HCI from the School of Industrial Design in the College of Architecture
  2. With an undergraduate degree in computer science, informatics, math, engineering or similar, you will want to apply via the School of Interactive Computing. Your degree will be the MS in HCI from the School of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing.
  3. With an undergraduate degree in art and design disciplines (such as interaction design, visual arts, digital media, architecture, media and culture studies, or similar) you will want to apply via the School of Literature, Media and Communication. Your degree will be the MS in HCI from the School of Literature, Media and Communication in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.
  4. With an undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology or other social sciences, you will want to apply via the School of Psychology. Your degree will be the MS in HCI from the School of Psychology in the College of Sciences.
